CROWN RESTORATIONS

tooth crown
If you have a cavity that is too large for a filling, your tooth is cracked, or you’ve had a root canal treatment, a crown is a great option to protect your tooth for the long term.

A crown is essentially a cap that we can put over a tooth that will give your tooth its natural shape and function. These are used to protect weak teeth, restore ones that are severely damaged, cover a large filling, retain a dental bridge, cover misshaped/discolored teeth, cover an implant, or cover a tooth that has had a root canal.

The crown will give your tooth the protection and natural look you are hoping for. You’ll be able to brush and floss just as you usually would, and very few people (usually just other dental professionals) will be able to tell you’ve had work done.

SAME-DAY CROWNS

Maliska Family Dental uses the Planmeca FIT system to provide complete dental restorations in just one visit. This five-step process includes preparation, impressions, design, creation, and placement.

Preparation
First, we remove a small amount of the dental structure to prep the site for the crown.

Planmeca PlanScan Scanner®
Next, we use this scanner to capture an exact digital impression of your tooth.

Planmeca PlanCAD®
Then, this computer system is used to design your personalized crown from your impression.

Planmeca PlanMill 40®
Our in-office milling unit uses high-quality dental ceramic to fit your impression to create your new crown.

Placement
Finally, we carefully place your new crown, make any adjustments near the site, polish, and seal the tooth.
